LogicBoxes email problems on Austin mail servers

LB are currently facing intermittent issues with mail service hosted on their Austin mail servers. If your domain’s MX records are pointing to the below MX records, your services might be affected :-

us2.mx1.mailhostbox.com.    us2.mx2.mailhostbox.com.    us2.mx3.mailhostbox.com.

You can check your domain’s MX records using the link – http://www.mxtoolbox.com/. You might face errors while login on to your webmail account

Their system admin team is already working on this and are trying to fix this asap. We and LB sincerely regret the inconvenience caused.

Registry connection downtime notice

LB will be performing a failback of services to the passive Pooler server in order to perform certain security and developmental upgrades on the current Pooler server.

This activity would require a downtime as per the below schedule:

Maintenance window:

Date : Wednesday, 12th February 2014
Start Time : 05:00:00 hrs UTC / 10:30:00 hrs IST
End Time : 05:10:00 hrs UTC / 10:40:00 hrs IST
Duration: 10 minutes

Affected Services:

During the above maintenance there will be no downtime for OrderBox. However, actions that require registry connections would be affected, example: Domain name Registrations, Renewals, name server modifications, contact modifications. Thus, LB advise you to carry out any actions on domain orders that would require a connection to the registry post this maintenance.

LB :- Changes to the dns-records API call

LB will soon be making minor changes to the “Get DNS records” API call. This will specially be beneficial for PHP developers using the “json_decode” function to parse JSON responses.

Previously, while passing the dns-records API call through a script, the MX and CNAME records used to display only the latest entries; in other words, the rest of the entries used to get overwritten.

We have now rectified this, and the API call will parse all the MX and CNAME records in the form of an array.

We will be implementing this change sometime next week.

Notice of Fee Change .NET

Verisign GRS  are increasing the pricing of the .NET tld on 1st Feb 2014, we will be changing the pricing on the platform to note this increase at 12:00 UTC 31st January 2014.

The pricing will increase by the exact amount that Verisign GRS are putting it up by across all tiers, namely 56 cents ( $0.56 ).

Restoration cost will increase to : $ 57.00

LogicBoxes will shortly remove from the countries list of the signup forms the following US embargo’s countries.

Iran
Burma
Cuba
Sudan
North Korea
Syria

Therefore we will not be able to provide services to those countries.

LB pooler server mainteannce

LB are having a server consolidation activity for their Pooler server (responsible for making registry connections) at the datacentre and for that they would require a downtime on 31st July 2013 as per the following schedule:

Maintenance window:

Date : Wednesday, 31st July 2013
Start Time : 02:30:00 hrs UTC / 08:00:00 hrs IST
End Time : 02:45:00 hrs UTC / 08:15:00 hrs IST

During the above maintenance there will be no downtime for orderbox. However, some of the registry calls could be affected. Thus, we advise you to carry out any actions on domain orders that would make a call to the registry post this maintenance.

ERRP – Update from ICANN

ICANN has announced the implementation of the Expired Registration Recovery Policy (ERRP). Through this mandatory policy, all Registrars and Resellers are obligated to comply with the following guidelines –

  • Registrars must ensure that at least 2 mandatory expiration reminders are sent to the Registrant at Expiry (RAE), approximately a month before, and a week before the expiration of a domain name. Additionally, at least one more reminder must be sent to the RAE within 5 days of domain expiration. This communication has to be in the language of the registration agreement
  • The renewal fee and restoration fee have to be made available to the Registrant at the time of domain registration. These fees have to be updated on the Reseller’s websites and a URL of the same has to be included in the registration agreement
  • The communication channel to be used for notifications must be displayed on the Reseller’s website and a link for the same has to be included in the registration agreement

Steps we’re taking to comply with this program:

  • We will introduce 2 new e-mails in the system for the pre as well as post expiry notifications mandated by ICANN. These mails shall be sent out only for gTLDs
  • These emails are fully customizable and you can edit the entire content of the mail except the list of expiring domain names
  • The default registration agreement will also be updated to include the new points mandated by ICANN
  • The Supersite will be updated to incorporate the display of pricing details and the communication channels being used to notify Registrants. If you are not using Supersite, you will have to manually make the changes in order to be compliant with this policy.
  • If you are not using Supersite, you will have to make the above mentioned changes on your own website in order to be compliant with this policy

When will these changes come into effect?

We plan to implement these changes on Monday, August 8th, 2013. Please circulate these mandates to your sub resellers and customers so that they are prepared well in time for the effective date.

Previous maintenance on 26th May, 2nd June and 9th June all never took place, we have now been assured this should :

Access to the following systems will be affected during this downtime: Control Panel, Supersite, Partnersite and API.

LB Domain forwarding service maintenance

LB's upstream data center will be upgrading the firmware for certain routers and hence that 
would need a downtime for our domain forwarding service as per the below schedule:
Date: Wednesday, July 10, 2013 (07/10/2013)
Start Time: 05:00 AM UTC/GMT
End Time: 01:00 PM UTC/GMT
Duration: 8 hours.
Services Affected:
Domain forwarding service. Although the above maintenance window states 8 hours from 
10-Jul-2013 05:00 - 13:00 UTC, LB expect that the actual downtime would be just a few 
hours during this window, with the remaining time allotted for verifying that full 
functionality has been restored and correcting any outlying issues after the changes have been applied.
