LogicBoxes: Merging Web & Email Hosting – Update

Dear Reseller,

Logicboxes are merging the Web Hosting and Email Hosting Products on their platform on the 24th of July, 2010. This mail contains some important updates regarding the changes on the 24th.

Downtime Notice

Date: 24th July, 2010

Time:
08:30 – 15:30 UTC
14:00 – 21:00 IST
04:30 – 11:30 EDT

Duration: 6 hours downtime + 1 hour for pricing updates and setup at your end

Affected Systems: All Web and Email Hosting orders will continue to function as is. Customers will be able to manage their packages. However, you will not be able to Add/Renew/Suspend Web & Email Hosting orders or make any price changes during the downtime.

Last Hour of the Downtime: >From 14:30 to 15:30 UTC, you will not be able to add any new Web and Email Hosting orders however, renewals and suspensions will go through. This hour is for you to be able to set your prices for both Customers and Resellers before orders can be placed post the downtime.

Impact:

Product Sign Up

IMP: Web and Email Hosting will now have a common sign up option. There will be 3 types of packages that you can opt in for – Linux Hosting + Email Hosting, Windows Hosting + Email Hosting and Only Email Hosting. However, regardless of the plans you choose to sell to your Customers, your Resellers will have all three options available to them.

API information :

This modification first phase of launching flexible Hosting plans. Additionally, this change will further simplify the purchase decision for Customers and take us one step closer towards giving you the ability to create custom hosting plans for your customers.

What are flexible Hosting plans?

Based on the feedback we received through our partners, we are looking at giving you the freedom to create your own Hosting plans from the Unlimited Hosting Package that we provide you with.

We will continue to provide you with a simple Unlimited Package at the backend
However what customers see will be the plans that YOU create!
- You will soon have the ability to configure pre-defined plans that your customers will see on your website (SuperSite)
- You will be able modify and restrict parameters like Disk Space, Bandwidth, Email Accounts etc for each plan

What makes this offering brilliant is that it gives you all the freedom and advantages of a Bulk Hosting Package without the risks and hassles of having to manage and purchase inventory. We will soon announce details on the launch of the flexible plans.

Impact on the API:

Important: We will be deprecating the SOAP API and modifying the HTTP API for Web and Email Hosting on the 24th of July, 2010. The new methods are not backward compatible and you will need to make the necessary modifications to ensure that you are not negatively affected by this change.

Modifications:

All SOAP based Web and Email Hosting API methods will be deprecated

There will be three unique plan ids for every Reseller for the following package types:
- Linux Hosting + Email Hosting
- Windows Hosing + Email Hosting
- Only Email Hosting

Please Note: Currently all Hosting HTTP methods include ‘/mock’ in the URL as these methods are currently only for testing purposes. You will need to remove the ‘/mock’ from the URL post July 24th.

NetEarth One – Free Domain Forwarding – coming soon

Dear Reseller,This blog/RSS entry contains important information about the following:

Free Domain Forwarding Service

LogicBoxes are excited to announce that they will be launching their Free Domain Forwarding Service on the 9^th of August. This latest addition to their suite of Free Products will be offered with every service that is provisioned through the LogicBoxes Platform.

As they approach the launch, they would like to furnish you with the changes that you and your Resellers may need to undertake to ensure a seamless update. We have described the impact of this launch below:

Domain Forwarding Sign-up and Setup:

1. All accounts on the system will be signed up for the Free Domain Forwarding Service on the 9^th of August
2. All customer and sub-reseller sign-ups post 9^th August will be automatically signed up for this service
3. As Domain Forwarding will become a free product, the pricing tables will be removed from your and your Resellers’ control panels

Activating Free Domain Forwarding:

In order to activate the Free Domain Forwarding Service, your Resellers and Customers will need to:
1. Navigate to the associated Product Management Console
2. Click on the Free Domain Forwarding button
3. Click on the Activate Domain Forwarding button
4. Once successfully activated, the Activate Domain Forwarding button will be replaced by a Manage Domain Forwarding button

Nameserver Information: 1. If the domain name using the service is registered through the LogicBoxes system, but the nameservers are not the same as those required to use the Domain Forwarding Service, our system will prompt the customer by displaying an Auto Update Nameservers button. On clicking this button, the nameservers will be updated automatically.
2. If the domain name is not registered with us, and the nameservers are not the same as those required to use the Domain Forwarding Service, the required nameservers will be displayed to the Customer. The auto-updation option will not be available, as these domains are not being managed through the LogicBoxes platform.

Impact on Existing Orders:

1. If the Domain Forwarding order is associated with one or more Products in the system, your Customers will simply need to search for the Product associated with the Domain Forwarding Service and access the management console from the Order Details View. Alternatively, your Customers and Resellers can use the widget on the Control Panel homepage to locate their Domain Forwarding Service.
2. If the Domain Forwarding order is not associated with any other Product in the system, your Customers and Resellers can use the widget on the Control Panel homepage to locate their Domain Forwarding Service.

API Impact: The relevant methods can be found under the DomainFwd class, within the DomainsKit.

Changes to the Existing API:

The following methods will be deprecated on the 9th of August:
- getDetails()
- del()
- getDetailsByDomain()
- getOrderIdByDomain()
- renew()
- add()
- list()
- mod()
- manage()

New Methods:

The following methods will be added:
- setupDomainForwardService(int orderID)
- manageDomainForwardService()

The above information has been put together to give you a perspective of the expected modifications, so that you can make any necessary changes on your site / use of the API.Through the course of this week, we will continue to send you regular updates on all developments on this front. We urge you to pass on this information to your Resellers at the earliest possible so they can prepare for the launch at their end as well.
